Most of you who surf to this blog probably don't know (or care) that I write a column on curling in the National Post every Thursday. I've been a curler since I was 14 and I've always enjoyed the game. I played competitively when I was younger but haven't done so in a few years. Writing about curling allows me to stay involved in the sport which is great because I love it.
In two years of writing the column (some of the older ones are here -- must update), I have never received the kind response I did yesterday. (subscription required). More emails from readers than for every column up to now combined!
The topic was CBC Sports' coverage of the Scott Tournament of Hearts this week. (As if we needed another reason to hate the Mother Corp.)
The Coles Notes version: the CBC has totally dropped the ball. TSN used to do the coverage, and they showed 3 games a day. Now, CBC shows one draw a day on the main network (at 12:30, when most people are at work) and one game in the evening on their digital station, Country Canada. Curling fans are enraged. Despite the uproar all week, looks like things aren't going to improve.
Anyway, just thought I'd share. More details here and here.
