Today's National Post reports that Ernie Eves, the former Ontario Premier, is being considered for the Senate by Paul Martin. The Upper Chamber currently has a slew of vacancies, and given the immense Liberal majority already there, Martin is looking to appoint a Tory. Other names that have been mentioned recently as possible appointees include Maureen McTeer and Joe Clark. I hope he passes on all three. Ernie and Joe (and even Maureen, for that matter) epitomize the legacy of failure in Conservative politics of the last three decades.
