Going after the weak

Peter Mackay's charge that the Liberals are offering plum posts to Tory MPs if they agree to resign appears to have merit. The Grits apparently approached Inky Mark, a weak Conservative MP from Manitoba, with an offer of an ambassadorship or even a Senate seat.

This story doesn't indicate whether Mark said he would take any offer, but he did say: "I basically told him I'd be happy if I could retire."

This doesn't surprise me. Mark has never been out for anyone but himself. He was the only guy who who joined the Democratic Representative Caucus (DRC) when Stockwell Day was leader of the Alliance who did not return to the Alliance caucus once Stephen Harper took over the leadership. Mark preferred to stay and work with -- yes, that's right -- Joe Clark. So we know he has exhibited poor judgement in the past.
