The Stronach stuff is getting a little tiring now, wouldn't you say? Although I did enjoy this piece from today's Globe, which is all about her claim that Brian Mulroney was fine with her defection when she phoned to tell him. We find out that he in fact wasn't fine with it at all, and is rather upset with the way their conversation was characterized:
"Twelve hours as an official Liberal and already she has the lying down pat," Tory Senator Marjory LeBreton said yesterday of Ms. Stronach.
...
"She's abusing her friendship and his generosity," Ms. LeBreton said of Ms. Stronach's version of the Mulroney conversation. "It's disgusting."
I knew Belinda's version of the story was a little too rosy.
Senator LeBreton's comments should be taken seriously because she is Mulroney's de-facto spokeswoman on Parliament Hill and talks with him quite a bit. (I can confirm this as a former summer intern in her office.) She would not be out talking to the media like this if Mulroney hadn't asked her to.
