Stronach's ambition
This article from yesterday's Hill Times is now way more significant:
Conservative sources pointed out her [Stronach's] recent interview with The Globe and Mail on May 3 before the Conservatives' emergency caucus meeting that day in which she warned against the perils of forcing an election before certain portions of the budget are passed.
"Her interview was all about leadership. She gave this interview before the caucus meeting to put everything on the public record. She made sure that should things go wrong in the next election, she could say, 'I have nothing to do with this and I told you guys not to do it.' If she had said this only in the caucus, probably none of that stuff might have come out," said the source.
But Mr. Entwistle [Stronach's spokesman] denied that it was a "leadership setup" and for the Globe interview, he said, that she was merely reflecting her constituents' views.
"It's not a leadership setup. If that ever comes to that in the future, not now, she'll put together a team, again, whatever she needs to do to help her get her job done," he said.
"Politics is kind of a push, shove game in a way. Everybody's going to react. When she made those comments to The Globe and Mail, she was really conveying the preoccupations of her constituents. She wasn't making this up, it was intended to be very constructive, as part of the overall landscape. She's very supportive of Stephen in what he's doing. She believes the budget is flawed, she's appalled by the politics of the government, the way they manipulate the budget process."
Hmmmmmmmm..............
